Themes of the journal
- Methods and algorithms of numerical mathematics and their applications for solving scientific and technical problems
Articles are published with descriptions of new results obtained in the development of methods and algorithms for solving problems of computational mathematics and its scientific and technical applications. Articles may be published on mathematical models and specific scientific and technical applications of numerical mathematics methods. Articles are accepted with descriptions of new numerical algorithms and their software implementations for computers of various architectures. It is possible to publish articles containing descriptions of computational experiments, test problems, and studies to determine the applicability areas of computational mathematics algorithms and their parallel software implementations. Articles on reviews of methods and software for solving these problems and development of recommendations for their use can be proposed for publication.
- Parallel software and technologies for solving problems of computational mathematics and its scientific and technical applications
Articles related to numerical software focused on supercomputers and computing systems with parallel architecture.
The first group of articles is devoted to research carried out in the field of theory and technology for designing programs of computational mathematics and its scientific and technical applications, as well as their associations in software systems (development of taxonomy and classifications of tasks and methods, disciplines and programming techniques, technological processes for compiling numerical programs for Computers with parallel architecture, methods for conducting computational experiments, etc.).
The second group of articles combines the results of studies on the development of tools for automating the design and maintenance of numerical programs and software systems for computers of various architectures (the development of tools for transforming numerical programs and mapping computational algorithms onto computer architectures, verification tools and macrogeneration programs, macroextensions of algorithmic languages, preprocessors and macroprocessors, etc.).
The third group of articles covers the results of research on the development of automation tools for access and control of the operation of numerical programs, as well as the processing of the results (development of problem-oriented languages, means of remote access and organization of interactive modes, data visualization, etc.).
The founder and publisher of the journal is the Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University (RCC MSU).
The journal is registered with the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications as a mass medium - a scientific electronic periodical (certificate of registration No. 77-4356, ISSN 1726-3522).
The journal is included in the Higher Attestation Commission (Russian Federation) List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of doctor and candidate of science should be published.
Bibliographic information on published articles is placed in the scientific citation database of the RSCI.
Articles published in the journal are assigned doi.
The journal «Numerical Methods and Programming» strictly adheres to international standards of publication ethics published in a document at http://publicationethics.org (COPE: Committee on Publication Ethics).
In accordance with this document, each article accepted by the editorial board for consideration after pre-selection undergoes a peer review process approved in the journal. Based on the results of the review, the article can either be rejected, or sent to the author for revision, or accepted for publication. The editorial board does not enter into a discussion with the authors of the relevance of their articles to the subject of the journal. Authors are responsible for the content of the article and for the fact of its publication. The editors of the journal are not liable for possible damage caused by the publication of the article. If the publication of an article entails a violation of someone else’s rights or generally accepted norms of scientific ethics, then the editorial staff of the journal has the right to withdraw an already published article. For authors, the publication of articles is free.
Authors must ensure that they submit original articles to the journal’s editorial office that have never been published anywhere and are free from plagiarism and scientific fraud. The results obtained by other authors and used in the articles submitted for publication should be referenced. Authors must ensure that they submit for publication their own new results that were not borrowed from publications of other authors. If authors use their own previously published results as the basis for the submitted articles, then they are obliged to indicate links to these results and stipulate what new results are obtained compared to previous ones. If the authors find any inaccuracies in already published articles, they are obliged to inform the responsible secretary of the journal about this and take part in correcting the situation with him. Authors should be aware that submitting the same article to different publications is a violation of publication ethics.
The editor-in-chief and executive secretary of the journal should guarantee the generally accepted single-blind peer review process for each article submitted, as well as keep in mind potential conflicts of interest between authors and others. The editors and editors of the journal should ensure that any information about the submitted articles is kept confidential until they are published. Reviewers and editors should evaluate articles submitted for publication only on the basis of their content, novelty and significance of the results obtained, without taking into account any other circumstances. They should keep track of potential copyright infringement, as well as plagiarism and scientific fraud. Reviewers must guarantee an objective assessment of the articles and articulate their conclusions on the articles.
The preparation of an article for publication by the journal’s editors consists in its scientific and literary editing and refinement of the article to the editorial standards adopted within the journal. All edits are consistent with the authors.
The publication of the article is carried out after the editors obtain the copyright consent.
Authors of articles should expressly agree with the rules for preparing articles for publication, including peer review, scientific and literary editing, and bringing articles to editorial standards adopted within the journal.
Authors must agree to transfer to the journal their right to publish and distribute articles in electronic and paper versions, including the publication of bibliographic information on articles in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) and other scientific citation databases, as well as the publication of full texts of articles in the Scientific Electronic Library (elibrary.ru) for free access to all Internet users, regardless of their category and location.
