Abstract

A method of entropy maximization (MENT) proposed earlier is applied to the reconstruction of three-dimensional images to measure the velocity fields by the tomographic particle image velocimetry (Tomo-PIV) method. The results of theoretical and experimental testing of the MENT algorithm are used to compare with the fastest SMART reconstruction algorithm. The theoretical estimates and the processing of synthetic and experimental images show a significantly improved performance with a slight decrease in the quality of results.
